About The Site

Welcome to ‘Inside a Mother’s Mind’!

Hi! My name is Thuy Le (formerly Thuy Yau) and I’m so grateful that you’re here! I blog about personal development because I love helping others. I hope I’m able to help you in some way 🙂

In the beginning…

I originally started this website to share my parenting experiences, but I later found that my insights applied to all types of people, from all walks of life. So I changed the direction of the blog to the field of personal development.

When I went through the toughest time in my life, I found that giving advice to others got me through it and gave me a reason to live. Now I am writing to share my thoughts on life and to help others better theirs.

I have gone through many traumatic experiences, but I choose to see the beauty in life. I am a survivor of child sexual abuse and after 20 years of keeping my abuse a secret, I feel so free! I may not have been in control of what happened to me, but I am in control of the rest of my life 🙂

My busy life as a mother, writer & former student…

I live in Perth, Australia and am a mother to 3 children. I graduated with a Diploma of Youth Work (achieved with all Distinctions! Yay!) and have also done a Professional Certificate in Understanding Childhood Trauma. I am proud to say that in my current job role, I am able to help create new, positive memories for children who suffered just like me.

I am a very passionate writer and feel very fortunate to have written for so many wonderful publications.

  • My freelance work has been published on news.com.au, Lifehack, Essential Baby, Essential Kids, Kidspot and Women’s Agenda.
  • My work for Essential Kids has also appeared several times on Australian news sites Sydney Morning Herald, WA Today, Canberra Times, Brisbane Times & The Age.
  • I have previously written columns for The Huffington Post UK, Aussie Mum Network, Mums Lounge and Mums Delivery.

My goals as a writer…

Everything I write is to help inspire, motivate and encourage others to lead more fulfilled and meaningful lives.

I hope my blog gets you thinking about the way you live your life and encourages you to change it for the better!
